Merced Tower
It is the only architectural remain of the old Convent of the Merced which was founded by D. Rodrigo Ponce de León in the 17th century. The tower was destroyed by an earthquake which stroke Rota in 1722. The tower we have today is square in shape in its lower part and octagonal in its higher part. It is finished off with a semicircular dome decorated with shiny blue and white tiles.
