Are you fond of doing sports during your holidays?

Rota is a lively city where hundreds of people daily practice sports activities. The Municipal council is in charge of coordinating these activities and is responsible for providing the local citizens with a wide range of sports activities for all ages.

Deportes03Rota holds a large number of public sports facilities such as tennis and paddle courts, football pitches with artificial grass, sports centre, indoor swimming pool or golf course. You can also practise water sports such as kitesurfing, windsurfing, sailing or sport fishing on its beaches.

The most remarkable sports events are the following:

The Half Marathon Rota-Chipiona: this famous race starts in Rota and finishes in the neighbour village of Chipiona. The road running is about 21097 metres length.

The BTT Villa de Rota Marathon: the road running is about 65 kilometres around a closed circuit which is established by the event organization.

“Pedro Machuca” Winter Swimming Crossing:  this event takes place at the end of December and consists in swimming a distance of 100 metres without a neoprene wetsuit. This is not a competition; it is just a symbolic race which takes into account the participants' courage for diving into the cold water.
